About half of the exam is material you should already have. This is the material that came up early, then kept reappearing in different forms across the term. It is not new. Hours seven to eighteen, day one: the core pass. Work the earlier material and the midterm-covered material in teaching order. For each piece, run the same test: can you name the concept in two words without looking? If yes, move on. If no, that is a gap, and you write it down. The goal of this pass is not to learn the material, it is to find the specific pieces of the core you have not used recently enough to recognize them.
Hours nineteen to thirty, day one: the mid-semester pass. This is the bucket you thought you knew, and you work it on your specific weak spots, not the whole unit.
